The Cruz del Tercero Square was built in 1893, for the IV Centenary anniversary of the foundation of the city. It represents the arrival of the Conquer of the Island, Alonso Fernandez de Lugo on May,3, 1493.

The original cross was in the Las Nieves ravine but it dissapeared. The cross in the middle of the Square is one of the place that celebrates the Cross Day with flowers ans religious activities.
