ROUTE SAN SEBASTIÁN\/BARRIO DE LA CANELA<\/h3><\/div>\n

The Barrio de San Sebasti\u00e1n, also known as the Barrio de La Canela since the beginning of the 20th century, arises around the old Real de La Banda that communicated Santa Cruz de La Palma with the Aridane Valley and the Puerto de Tazacorte. It receives the name of San Sebasti\u00e1n for the Hermitage that begins the neighborhood, before which travelers entrusted themselves when entering or leaving the City, and of La Canela because due to the proliferation of pastry artisans, the neighborhood was flooded with that aroma. <\/span><\/p>\n

We start our tour in the Plaza de Espa\u00f1a<\/strong>, going up the back stairs we will find the Building of the Royal Cosmological Society<\/strong>. From there going up we will find the Hermitage of San Sebasti\u00e1n, opposite we find a traditional house, one of the most beautiful in the city, a few steps from Calle El Drago and Callej\u00f3n de Pepita Sosa<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Following the attached map, we find interesting information about this street, its buildings and some illustrious inhabitants. Following this street you will find the Plaza del Dornajo<\/strong>, which gets its name from the trough used by transporters for cattle, one of the most charming in the city. In this area you will find beautiful houses with decorative details of great interest. <\/span><\/p>\n

If you are prepared or prepared, the GR 130 trail continues here that takes us to San Pedro, in the municipality of Bre\u00f1a Alta. <\/span><\/p>\n

But if you want to continue taking a leisurely walk, going down Calle San Sebasti\u00e1n<\/strong> and returning to the hermitage, and then on the right, we will find the Teatro Circo de Marte<\/strong> and later, in the Plaza de Santo Domingo<\/strong>, the Church of Santo Domingo<\/strong>, the Museum of Contemporary Art \/ Interpretation Center of the Bajada<\/strong>, and a charming place to enjoy and have a drink in the square itself if we want to finish the route here. <\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to walk a little more, after the restaurants at the end of the Plaza de Santo Domingo<\/strong>, you will find Calle La Luz where you will find the Ermita de La Luz and walking a little more the Municipal Cemetery<\/strong> if you are interested. If not, going down next to the Ermita de La Luz and reaching some stairs you will reach Calle O'Daly.
